What type of web-site do you want?
(a little web-site philosophy - billboard
vs. latest news?)
(consider using that e-mail mailing list to send out news on your web site additions)
Setting Up a Web Site
Pre-package deals:
Building your own web site involves three steps:
Finding a place to put it (web space provider), such as
- Hurricane Electric
(http://www.he.net)
is one of MANY web hosting sites. Featurs to look for: how it's connected
to the web 'backbone', support of features, including own domain name,
forms, virtual e-mail addresses, JAVA, status reports. Pricing scheme is
based on how much disk space is neede, how much traffic is generated.
Creating the web pages, using software such as:
- Microsoft FrontPage
- Adobe Page Mill
- Claris Home Page
Transferring the web page(s) to the web space provider, using FTP
(File Transfer Protocol)
