Do you want to increase your odds for a successful visit? Pre-visits
help to ensure success. They also make the day of the visit go smoothly and ease
the stress experienced by camp directors.
A pre-visit is an opportunity to have written materials reviewed and know whether
they meet the Standards or need more work before the day of your visit. Any or all
of your written work can be reviewed. Most camps won't have everything ready for a
pre-visit (things like certifications may not be in your hands yet), but knowing
what will pass and what you need to work on sure eases the burden going into a
visit.
Pre-visits can happen in several ways. When your camp receives its Visitor
assignment in early May you can arrange with your lead Visitor to conduct a
pre-visit. If your Visitor can't arrange this, contact Kim Brosnan or Dan Reynolds,
Ohio Section Standards Co-Chairs, and a pre-Visitor can be assigned. The Ohio
Section offers a pre-visit day on Thursday, May 12th, 2005 at Hoover Y-Park in Columbus.
On this day we will have Visitors and instructors to conduct pre-visits. The Ohio
Section provides pizza and pop for lunch.
Pre-visits are highly recommended. Please contact Kim Brosnan at
kabrosnan@dioceseofcleveland.org or Dan Reynolds at danr@akronymca.org for more
information or to sign up for the pre-visit day on May 12th, 2005.
